Wong Tak-sum is currently a visiting lecturer in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; a guest lecturer in the Department of Chinese Language Studies and a senior research assistant in the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies of The Education University of Hong Kong.  He earned his PhD degree in Linguistics from City University of Hong Kong in 2018.  He received his MPhil degree in Chinese Linguistics and BEng degree with minors in Mathematics, and Humanities from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2008 and 2004 respectively.  He served as a research assistant in the Signal Processing Laboratory of City University of Hong Kong from 2004 to 2006, the Human-Computer Communications Laboratory (HCCL) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2009, the Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong from 2010 to 2011, as a research associate in the Department of English of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2012 to 2014, and as a senior research assistant in the Department of Linguistics and Translation at City University of Hong Kong from 2017 to 2018.  He has also been a part-time senior research assistant in the Halliday Centre for Intelligent Applications of Language Studies of City University of Hong Kong, a part-time research assistant in the Research Centre on Linguistics and Language Information Sciences of the Hong Kong Institute of Education, a part-time lecturer in the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics of City University of Hong Kong, a part-time senior research assistant in the Department of Chinese Language Studies and the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies of the Hong Kong Institute of Education, a part-time research assistant in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  In the past few years, he served as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a part-time lecturer in the School of Education and Languages of the Hong Kong Metropolitan University.
